March TCAUG Meeting 3-14-2009

03/14/2009 - 11:30
03/14/2009 - 13:30
Etc/GMT-5

Well, I'm posting this after the meeting has actually taken place... Yes, there was a meeting and here's what happened, mostly: Jay started the meeting with the usual introduction and his rant on ISDN Bri.

We went around the room with introductions and then we talked a little bit about asterisk and what we should do for future meetings, Eric went over to the white board and drew a nice picture of linux, asterisk and the components involved.

We have some items to select from for future meetings. Here is the list: Distro Parade - This is where we ask for members to pick a asterisk distro and install / play with it and report back to the group on their likes/dislikes/features, etc. We could probably spread these out over many meetings and only have one at a time or we could have an entire meeting with nothing but distro reports.

Next on the list, vici talk - Eric might be convinced to dig up is vici scripts and see if they work on the current distros and give a talk on the updates/changes to vici in the last year or two.

Hardware lineup / telco cards - Tell us about your experience with various vendors cards. What works / what doesn't, This could be spread out like the distros or all in one meeting.

Favorite Phone - tell us about your favorite phone, tricks you've done with it and why we should know more about it.

Codec rodeo roundup - G722 wideband is coming on strong and there are others. What codec to use when.

There... that should keep us busy for a little while. I also brought up with Eric after the meeting that we should really have a BBQ sometime this summer. I forget what months we take off during the year but we should think about having a BBQ on oe of the months we skip meetings.

Any other ideas or improvements on the ones listed above? contact me, I'd love to hear them. Thanks, Jay
